Greetings Traveler!

The Door has Open

" TRAVELERS, WELCOME TO MYTHS TAVERN! COME IN AND HAVE A SEAT. ORDER A DRINK AND ENJOY THE ATMOSPHERE. TAKE A MOMENT AND TALK WITH FELLOW TRAVELERS OVER A MUG OF OUR FINEST MEAD. TAKE A BREATHER AND LET THE WEARINESS OF THE LONG ROAD JUST SEEP FROM YOUR BONES."

This is the inscription found upon the red oak door; with a brass dragon's profile that is bellowing its fire breath center of the heavy door, that has appeared seemingly out of nowhere. As the door opens the sound of lively music, laughter, and gentle chatter spills out. An aroma of grilled meat, freshly cut cedar wood, Rich Coffee, and Fresh Poured ale reaches out like a trusted friend's hand.

Chapter 3

Where are we Now?

Myth’s Tavern had once been inaccessible to many. But the doors had opened again, and the Hyur that once walked through returned, to see a Roegadyn in a hooded sweatshirt, solid dragoon blue with an odd ‘face’ on it. The Gentlebean Parka was a sign the Storyteller was in that evening, and the Hyur sat down.“You finally made it on my shift… Welcome to Myths… where I don’t close the door because the others said it’s been a late night, and I still got energy to burn… don’t order… I have just the thing for you.” The Roegadyn placed a bottle of something cold and sweet on the bar, the Hyur looked at him confused “don’t be so shocked… I’m on the road a lot too.”
“You’re Jack” the Hyur responded, looking up.
“That I am much to others’ dismay that I yet live…”
“The Door. It didn’t show for a while…” the Hyur recalled staring at the nearby candle, flickering at a table where a pair of Viera point at Jack and laugh.
“It did not.” Jack confirmed bluntly
“Why?” the question genuine, as the Roegadyn opened a mead bottle

What Happening Now?

“That? That’s a story in itself.”
“Then it’s a good thing I am in the company of Myth’s Storyteller.” The Hyur pressed.
“Just the battle?” Jack asked, polishing a horn for a Viera woman who ordered a ‘horn of red wine’.
“Was there another part…?” the Hyur inquired immediately
“Very well, you’ve twisted my arm… I will start at weapon development… we got the scales from Amythest. She went to Garduun, in a moment of desperation, clarity, suicidal tendency… I don’t know. But I was given the scales and made the weapons with what I knew from my time away from the world of mortals… I lined weapons like the weapons of another type of warrior… a Witcher”
“Witcher?” the Hyur asked
“They are alchemically augmented humans that fight monsters, they don’t have aether to make the difference, like you and I could change our abilities...”
“But… why make these weapons?”
“To kill an Echo Leech.” Jack bluntly answered.
“A WHAT?!” The Hyur shouted, others chuckling at the response
“Something that consumes the energy of teleportation magic. And it had been leeching off the Doors to the Tavern.” Jack clarified, voice detached
“Weapons research would take years!” the Hyur objected
“I have training in chronomancy… it helped reduce the time dramatically… I was… running away from a pain I was feeling at the time… I lost someone. She was… important to me.”
The Hyur was silent, before muttering “I am sorry”
“As am I… Svetlana… she was a chaotic friend… but those are the ones you miss most, when things become quiet…” Jack replied. “Regardless, my fellows hunted the Echo Leech, it is dead now.” Jack stated as bluntly as he could say ‘the snow falls in Ishgard’
“How?”
“With violence” Jack answered with an amused smirk.
“I meant how did they end the beast” the Hyur insisted
“My friends and allies had the weapons I made and told Elliot and I to stay behind… Elliot did not listen. I did. He did not. Using a rather large fleet of vehicles that Elliot keeps on his ranch in Garduun, the others pressed the offensive with Florian in the lead vehicle, intent to launch into the beast. Sindara had the rifle Elliot made for the killing blow. So, the others cut at its snake-like lower half to distract it… Sindara forgot to account for the distance when she was lining up the shot…” Jack recounted
"Because of drop off!" The Hyur added excitedly, now catching onto the problem
“Very good!” Jack encouraged “Yes, the drop off made it still a fatal hit, but the creature would need to bleed… and unknown to us, Elliot was there. I do not know how he descended upon the beast, only that he came prepared to further the creature’s wounds to kill it faster. And the beast had given our cybernetic cowboy/cyborg/resident Pokémon Champion/entrepreneur/samurai a run for his money, clawing at it’s own face to effectively ensure it would live, even if it was made uglier by such methods”
“What’s a Pokémon? What’s a cyborg?” the Hyur asked, unaware of the derailing of the train of thought he almost created
“Creature from Elliot’s home, in another Star’s system, but that’s a story for another day.” Jack said, brushing off what was the foundation of how Elliot became the ‘anti-sleep moneymaker’ that Myths knew him to be when Elliot was serious.
“What’s a cyborg” the Hyur asks again
“Human with cybernetic replacements for limbs or organs” Jack quickly answers, attempting to get back to the story
“Please continue the story” the Hyur requests, as the most important questions have been answered, at least for now.
“Right, so here comes Elliot, seeing this fucking thing will be attacking the party for at least another 2 minutes and jumps from gods only know how high and thinks ‘nah, I’ll win’ and starts to stab into the face of the creature, probably trying to cause brain damage… which meant the tail side of the attacking forces had to go in harder. Sindara reloaded the rifle… didn’t account for wind to help Elliot faster… and…”
“Bang, Elliot got shot” the Hyur said aloud, as if thinking and blurting it out
“Bingo. This cut across Elliot’s back, a laceration, but apparently, coming from where he came from, where teleporting tiles are common, made Elliot a torch in a cave, as it were. The creature cut into Elliot, but… the plan and the chaotic secondary ‘plan’, which I use loosely, worked… and we discovered one last thing about these creatures… they can produce a venom that asexually creates more Echo Leeches… because the venom is a forced transformation… it took me three weeks to fully undo the damage of the venom, as the first thing the venom does is blind and tries to corrupt the soul… I do not know why.”
“Well thank the Twelve he is alive.” The Hyur’s words came out with relief
“And… Leaf owes me 20,000 gil. For stopping the corruption of Elliot’s soul.” Jack added.
“And yo’r ne’er ge’in it back, lad!” the Elezen bard said, taking the stool on stage.
“You’ve all had the adventure, then!” the Hyur exclaims
“If only I could tell Svetlana about it.” Jack adds, solemnly
“Don’ go worry’n about it, lad. You’ll find a new lady to burn the time away with” Leaf’s words were encouraging, but he looked saddened by Jack’s addition to the conversation
“Maybe… but I’m like that candle there on that empty table.” Jack said, staring at a candle, near it’s end on a different, empty table “I have a little bit of life, and a little bit of light left to give… but I will give it… freely.”
“Isn’t that the way of things?” the Hyur asked
“No Myth lives cleanly… we all have blood in our past somewhere.” Jack repeated the words of the Tavern’s caretaker, Norha Jade, as if they were a reminder… of what, the Hyur didn’t know.
“You’ll be alright, Jack…” the Hyur offered as condolences.
“The Inheritor Protects…” Jack replied, the words a prayer. To keep safe all those who walked in the door. The Viera women leave and wave, leaving with a Loporrit at the door a pair of paper slips, looking back and waving to the bar as they left, and Jack raised his hand “Thank you for joining us here at Myth’s tonight ladies, may you find the door when you next need to rest!” Jack smiled and his tone was warm, but his eyes still had the look of someone still praying and still wondering if his prayers were still enough to change the tides of anyone’s luck. The Hyur finally drank the bottle he had been handed earlier. The purple concoction inside bubbled and was sweet. “What is this?”
“Grape soda” Jack answered
“I like it.” The Hyur answered
“Figured. Now take a moment… you look like you’ve been fighting others’ ghosts for far too long.”
“Pot, that’s kettle, and in reverse.” Leaf joked
“Piss off…” Jack rolled his eyes. But the Hyur sat there understanding one thing for certain. Myth’s Door and been shut by something bigger than the sum of it’s parts. And those parts came back swinging, in full force.

Chapter 2

Where are we Now?

It had been a few years and the Hyur had hoped to find that strange tavern with the coy Viera bartender. He was down in the Brume when he saw the familiar red door. The building looked like it had seen a dragon attack recently but that couldn't be.He pushed open the door and shook the snow out of his hair as he saw the dark tanned Viera and smiled. "Hey I finally found the door again." He said with a smile looking around taking note of the disarray and feel of something was off even if the place looked put together."Is everything alright?" He asked as she was already filling a mug with ale for him.

What Happening Now?

As the Hyur looked around he started to noticed the once almost glowing with magic interior was now strangely mundane looking. The walls had cracks in them. And the Viera behind the bar looked almost defeated. "I mean it miss is everything alright?" He took a seat on one of the stools in front of the small bun like female. She looked at him with eyes different from the last time they meet. It was like looking into the sky at night. "Given everything we could be worse off, Darling. Right now we are just like any other tavern ran by a merc company. But, like any Myth we aren't soo easy to kill." She purred as she started whipping down a glass.

Chapter 1

Where are we?

"Where are we?" Asked the young Hyur as they sat down on the center bar stool. The dark-tanned Viera looked up from the glass she was wiping down. "Well, that depends. How long of an answer do you want? We are here and there and a little bit of everywhere and nowhere all at once."The Hyur gave a confused look causing the Viera to laugh a little."Forgive me, simply put we are in a place that links the worlds together and is outside of time." The Viera spoke in a thoughtful tone. "I would say don't throw things into the fireplace it is known to eat them.""Wait! The fireplace eat things?" The Hyur asked in disbelief."Yeah, the tavern has a mind of its own."

What Happens if we feed it?

"Wait Wait slow down...Miss you make this sound like common place thing" The Hyur said with a faint bit of panic. The Viera smiled a sweet sly smile "Sorry darling this is my home it is a daily thing; the shock and awe wore off a long time ago." During the time they had been talking she had been mixing him a drink "So I am guessing that you want the long answer of the Tavern?" She set the drink down in front of the Hyur."Please" he said picking up the bubbly green drink."If you feed the Tavern it grows. Like any living being. Tweetle Devil over there leads to a city" She points to a fire place that caused the Hyur to almost fall off their stool."There is a face!"The Viera chuckled "Yes, the being that the Tavern is on thinks it is funny to startle people who take notice. This place is a haven as long as you have a need, you are welcomed here. 'Come in peace or leave in pieces' that is a motto here."
"This is a bit much to take in" He said as he took a deep drink of the green drink that the Viera had served him. He looked at the drink.
"We call it a Hades Other places like Earth call it Death in the Afternoon." The Viera explained as she worked wiping down the bar.
"Wait earth what is that?"
The Viera smiled as the Hyur asked his question easily answering them. Explaining the rift, Anzanor, and the world beyond the fireplace.
"you live in a fasinating place bar keep. Hope the door finds me again."
